FAQ

Q

Will the renovations be carried out solely by the renovators?

A

The renovation will be carried out primarily by the management team, with the help of renovators.

Q

Is it okay to carry out the renovation with only amateurs?

A

We have connections with several people who provide professional support in the field of architecture, and we proceed with the renovations based on their supervision and advice. We also outsource parts of the renovations that cannot be done at a DIY level.

Q

Will the renovators continue to live in the share house?

A

Some people continue to live there. After completion, the house will become a rental share house, so in that case, a considerable amount of rent will have to be paid to the management. If it leads to welfare assistance or another job, we set the rent at a level that makes this possible.

Q

How do you find renovators?

A

We work with other support organizations and receive referrals from them who may be suitable for our shelter. We do not plan to recruit directly.

Q

Who lives in the shared house after it is completed?

A

Many young people have moved to the suburbs due to remote work. When recruiting, we prioritize people who live alone and have a strong interest in the community. For example, we expect students who have just come from rural areas, new members of the workforce, and international students who have just come from overseas. In addition, since this is a special property where the rent will directly fund the social business, we expect people who are highly conscious of social issues.

Q

Do you pay rent to vacant property owners?

A

We do pay, but since we are covering the cost of sorting and renovation, the fee is lower than usual.

Q

How do you recoup the costs of renovation and labor?

A

The difference between the rent for the shared house and the rent paid to the owner is used to recoup costs over the long term. Since this model involves high initial risks, we hope to mitigate these risks through crowdfunding or similar means.
